Homemade 1.8kW inverter generator
I built them a generator for a few years because we have used a lot of power outages, and I did not know what I saw at Home Depot and Lowe's smaller. Used it several times for power outages, our Ham Radio Club annual Field Day, and places where there is no air conditioning. Although it only makes 1800W, its battery-inverter arrangement allows gene-set to run in silent mode (turned off engine). I plan to add additional capacity 500Ah I looked 1kW load, I can run on batteries for about 6 hours(Conservative) and about 10 hours at 500W load before the engine must be restarted to reload the batteries. I found the engine, generator, inverter and generator frame, all new, all on eBay. Generator, if you can not not hear in the video (much noise), an OEM-140A unit and the engine is a Briggs & Stratton 6.0hp vertical shaft, electric start. Xantrex inverter power (sine 1800 with a pro-12V input, output 120VAC Wired) and the frame was from a Coleman 6500 generator.Wheel is pneumatic and steering is via custom-made brass fittings. The engine drives the generator to a K-6, 6-rib serpentine belt. The motor pulley is 7.00 "dia. Pulley and the generator is 5.00" diameter. Smog pump from an old Ford. Seeking proposals for an official name for my creation.
